We are pleased to announce the release of Xfire’s new default skin - and it isn’t just a new skin, but also a first look at what the Xfire 2.0 client will look like. Being the first skin that carries many of the design principles from the beta website to the client, we have dubbed it “Symbiosis”.
We know that this is just a new skin, and we know that it is not what most of you have been asking for: a completely rebuilt client. We have hinted that Xfire 2.0 is on the way, but have been pretty tight-lipped about it. This is because we’ve been busy learning from Xfire users like you, exploring what the future of the client and website will look like, how they should work together, and what they should do respective of each other. We are getting very close to achieving that vision, and how to solve the technical challenges that we’ll hit as we develop it.
So, consider this to be the last Xfire 1.x skin and the first formal announcement of a complete rebuild of the Xfire client.
We’re not going to get into the specifics of Xfire 2.0 here; we’ll save that for another time when we have something cool to demo. In the meantime, we hope you are as pleased with Symbiosis as we are, and we are really looking forward to showing a snippet of Xfire 2.0 in the near future!
